Members send hats and teddy bears to pediatric patients in thirteen countries

GAINESVILLE, May 1, 2002 — For the second year, Friends for Life of America collected hats and teddy bears for pediatric patients undergoing treatment for cancer in hospitals all over the world as part of the Global Outreach program. This year's shipments brightened the lives of patients in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, England, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, and Yugoslavia.

"We brought smiles to hundreds of children around the world," said Shelley Rood, Director of Global Outreach. "This program gave our members the opportunity to touch the lives of children in other countries who may not have access to the resources provided by cancer organizations in the United States."

With the help of many generous sponsors, pediatric patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments in twenty countries have benefited from this program.
