Outstanding Achievement Awards

Friends for Life of America recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the organization on behalf of patients living with cancer. Although each chapter presents awards to its local membership, Friends for Life of America presents very special awards at the national level.

Daniel Star Service Award

The Daniel Star Service Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a member of Friends for Life of America. Named after Daniel Heidenberg, the brave little boy who lost his life to leukemia at the age of six, this award is presented to one member each year who best embodies Daniel's goodwill, kind heart, and cheerful nature. An exemplary role model to his or her fellow members, each recipient demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the organization and community through superior service.

Founder's Award

The Founder's Award was established in honor of Friends for Life of America founder, Steven D. Cohen. Each year, all Friends for Life of America chapters are invited to submit nominations on behalf of members who are deserving of this special honor. By a majority vote of the National Board, with input from Mr. Cohen, this award is presented to members who best exemplify excellence in three primary areas – leadership, scholarship, and service.

National Chairman's Citation

This special award was designed to recognize members of Friends for Life of America who make formidable contributions to the organization. The National Chairman may issue this award at his discretion to any member who demonstrates a true "spirit of excellence."
